Who I am

I am an experienced independent consultant with background in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. I was previously a consultant with McKinsey & Company, and I'm passionate about solving tough challenges in business, government and non-profit. I have expertise in project management, strategy design, economic and market research, analytical insights, and professional and business writing.

I combine my business experience from my consulting days at McKinsey & Co. with my passion for analyzing and designing public policy. I enjoy using my strong analytical and research skills, project management experience, and knack for developing crisp, professional written products to help clients shine.

About me

Alison Nichols

Alison Nichols is an independent consultant with experience in strategy consulting and public policy. Her functional expertise includes project management, business planning, market analysis, risk assessment, and analytical insights. She also has experience in financial inclusion and microfinance and is excited about innovative policy design and economic development, especially at the local level.

Alison was a Consultant at McKinsey & Company in San Francisco, where she served multiple clients, with a focus on financial services, on topics including growth strategy, risk management, cost reduction, and performance management. Previously, she was a market and economic analyst for the Oxford Business Group, where she focused on North African markets. She has also worked as a microfinance and financial inclusion consultant, advising a Boston non-profit that supports innovations in financial inclusion, as well as an agribusiness in Uganda on their small farmer lending program.

Alison currently lives in Santa Fe, NM with her husband. She has lived, worked, and studied around the world, including in the UAE, Qatar, Morocco, Algeria, and Uganda, and has traveled to 70+ countries. She enjoys exploring her adopted home state of New Mexico on foot and on bike.
